If you’re looking for gardening advice, don’t let our vintage glam look fool you – we aren’t afraid to roll up our sleeves and get a bit of dirt or flour under our fingernails!

The Gardenettes is a retro-tinged garden to table show,  we’re food-obsessed lovers of all things green. Our stories, gardening tips and tricks focus on the things we love most – beautiful gardens and flowers, potted style – indoors and out and growing and eating delicious home-grown, hand-picked, home made food.  We’re passionate about showing you that you CAN grow your own food, pick fresh blooms straight from your own backyard and create a feast with garden fresh produce.

This show has heart and soul poured into its making, built from the brains of sleep deprived mothers and crafted in the quiet corners of kid-friendly cafes. As working mums we know what it’s like to have an on-the-go lifestyle, so The Gardenettes’ videos and tips are bite sized and easy to digest through FacebookInstagram and Youtube, so you can get your Gardenettes fix anytime.

We’re based in Melbourne, Australia but we’re oozing our passion for gardening & cooking around the world!

Hey there! I’m Gardenette Chloe Thomson.

I’m passionate about gardening, in particular growing my own food.

My love of growing and cooking is infectious and so is my enthusiasm for sharing her knowledge with all generations. I have a degree in Agricultural Science and am currently completing my Masters of Urban Horticulture at Burnley, University of Melbourne.

I grew up surrounded by a family passionate about organic gardening and cooking their homegrown produce. I’m experienced at gardening in all conditions, having lived – and gardened – on a small farm, in tiny apartments, in crowded share houses and on your average suburban house block.

I honed my presenter skills on The Garden Gurus (Channel 9) for 5 years and I’ve written for several gardening publications including The Guru Magazine, Good Organic Gardener & Vasili’s Garden. My blog and social media profile “Bean There Dug That” also has a great following of 25-45 year old women in Australia.

As a mum to 2 little boys – I would like to show, particularly the younger generations, that sustainable gardening, and growing at least some of the food you eat – is possible no matter where you live!

Hey there! I’m Gardenette Melissa King.

I grew up with gardening in my blood. I grew up playing in my grandparent’s native plant nursery and at fifteen started working weekends in a garden centre, which fuelled my love of all things green.

I then completed a degree in horticulture and carved a career in gardening media becoming a popular face on gardening and lifestyle television shows as well as a well-known and respected writer, author and speaker.

I’ve worked alongside Peter Cundall on ABC’s Gardening Australia, combined my love of gardens, food and travel as one of the hosts of the travel series Gurus Explore, transformed front yards in Channel 9’s make-over series Battlefronts, hosted the gardening segment on Channel 10’s fun morning show ‘The Circle’ and inspired people of all ages to get out into the garden on Foxtel’s Garden Angels. These days I also appear in The Garden Gurus on Channel 9 and I’m proud to call myself a ‘Gardenette’.

With two young boys of my own, I want every kid to get a bit of dirt under their fingernails and experience the thrill of growing their own food. I’m passionate about garden history, potted gardens, kids gardening, growing edibles, food stories and recipes from the past. My book ‘Garden Feast’ is all about growing and cooking fruit and vegetables with old-fashioned flavour.
